The 55-inch Sony Bravia KDL-55EX720 is an LED HDTV with 1080p video ready for 3D and internet. The TV also boasts many performance and energy-saving features such as motion and light sensors. Their new “Presence Sensor” saves energy by determining movement in the room. It can tell if you’ve stepped away from your TV and will turn off the picture until you return. Another smart feature is its integrated light sensor allows the TV to adjust its brightness based on your room’s current lighting. LED backlights are more efficient than conventional fluorescent backlights anyway but the KDL-55EX720’s other added energy-saving features just makes it all the more desirable. From my research, the KDL-40EX523 is a solid, economical choice in a high-quality 40″ HDTV. The LED backlight promises a crystal clear picture that utilizes their light sensor to filter and detect ambient light and adjust the image automatically. Among many features like being internet-ready with a built-in web browser, this model is not just sharp, but tested almost 3x faster than previous models as well. Sony left out some less useful technologies like blur reduction, (which doesn’t benefit 40″ screens as much as larger ones anyway) to concentrate on the more user convenient features like having four HDMI inputs so you can hook up several high-definition pieces of equipment with ease.
